Most of the records in this collection are plot records showing the location of burial plots in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Mount Hope is American's first municipal, Victorian cemetery, dedicated in 1838 in Rochester, NY. The cemetery covers 196 acres of hills and valleys created by retreating glaciers, and is the final resting place of some notable figures in American History, including Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony.
