Historical Context

In 1972 Hurricane Agnes caused the Genesee River to overflow and flood the surrounding areas. Flood waters almost topped the spillway on the Mount Morris Dam in Letchworth State Park. The Flood of ‘72 caused tremendous damage to the region.

Scope of Collection

The collection is comprised of color photographs depicting the flood as it happened in 1972. There are images of the Genesee River, Mount Morris Dam, and SUNY Geneseo campus.
