Historical Context

Geneva is located on the Northern end of Seneca Lake, within the boundaries of both Seneca and Ontario Counties in New York State. The region was originally inhabited by the Seneca, the westernmost tribe of the Iroquois. European-American settlers arrived to the region in the late 18th century and Geneva became officially incorporated as a village in 1806.

Scope of Collection

The Geneva Public Library Digital Collection is a collection of over 100 photographs related to historical Geneva, New York. Photographs of historical buildings, streets, events, and people are included. Several photographs were taken from the beloved journalist and photographer of the Geneva Times, P.B. Oakley.
