Historical Context

Potsdam is located in St. Lawrence County, New York and was founded in 1806 and was the site of both the St. Lawrence Academy (Now SUNY Potsdam) and Clarkson University.

Scope of Collection

This collection contains photographs of the Potsdam area during the decade of the 1940s, as well as pamphlets detailing goings-on in the town during that period. The images include photographs of the 1940 U.S. Military Wargames held in St. Lawrence County, as well as images of the interiors and exteriors of local businesses and local civic events, such as the 1943 Ice Carnival.
