Fifty-five forms filled out by hand noting the name, birth, family, address, school history, employment, enlistment date, training location, division, rank, citations, and death information for soldiers in World War 2 with ties to the Hornell area.
These forms were filled out by women in the 1940s.
Some of these fifty-five men died of car or plane accidents while still on base in the United States. Some were killed in action in the Pacific, North Africa, Germany, France, Holland, or Belgium. Some died in notable battles, including D-Day, Pearl Harbor (on the Arizona), and the Battle of the Bulge.
The majority of the men were graduates of Hornell High School, and were between 20 and 25 years old.
