About

The Altamont Free Library, established in 1916, has been housed in various locations around the Village. In 2012 it moved to its current location in the Altamont Train Station. The Library serves Altamont and the surrounding communities and provides for the informational, cultural, educational and recreational needs of patrons.

The Altamont Village Museum and Archives was established circa 1990 and is housed in the Altamont Village Hall. The mission of the Archives and Museum is to collect and preserve important historical documents, photographs, and ephemera relating to the cultural, educational and municipal history of the Village of Altamont (incorporated in 1890), its citizens and founders.

Altamont Free Library is a member of the Capital District Library Council.
