About

SUNY New Paltz is a four-year public liberal arts college located in the Hudson Valley region of New York. It was one of the founding schools in the State University of New York system, created in 1948. The college is an active contributor to the schools, community institutions and economic/cultural life in the region.

The Sojourner Truth Library fosters learning and supports scholarship at SUNY New Paltz by providing an extensive array of information resources and services. The Library also serves as a repository for some of the official and unofficial records of the college.

The collections presented here document the history of higher education in the town of New Paltz, from the establishment of the first New Paltz Academy in 1828, to the present State University of New York at New Paltz.

SUNY New Paltz - Sojourner Truth Library is a member of the Southeastern New York Library Resources Council.
