Why do some search results go to a different website?
New York Heritage searches all collections hosted by nyheritage.nnyln.org plus three other digital collections projects: Hudson River Valley Heritage, Digital Metro New York, and Long Island Memories. If a user clicks on an item from Hudson River Valley Heritage, Digital Metro New York, or Long Island Memories, the web browser will open a new window to view the item in the external website.
How do I search newspapers?
Our extensive digital newspapers collections are not part of the default search of New York Heritage because they would crowd out the search results. Instead, please search our newspapers by county here: New York Heritage Newspapers
Searching the Collections
The default search box of New York Heritage searches all of our collections as a keyword in any field. If you want a more robust search, please try our Advanced Search, where you can search by field and limit collections, as well as use Boolean functions like AND, NOT, and OR.
