This digital collection consists of selected historical documents from the New Paltz Town Records. Featured are: an “Indian Deed “ (1677) which documents the sale of land to the Huguenots by the Esopus People, the Register of Slaves” (1799-1825), which records the birth and register of infants born to enslaved mothers living in New Paltz, the “Register of Poor Persons at Present Relieved by the Overseer of the Poor” (1805-1827), which includes detailed information about the town’s poor population, and the Civil War draft ledger (1863).
