The Virginia Marshall Martus Collection

The Virginia Marshall Martus Collection consists of photographs, correspondence, clippings and artifacts relating to the history of Port Washington, New York, its nautical history, the A&R Marshall shipyard, which operated in Port for over 30 years, the Marshall family and the work of Virginia Marshall Martus. The collection includes a wealth of information about Port Washington, particularly waterfront activities such as star boats, iceboating, frostbiting and Port residents who were active sailors. The photographs in this collection form a unique and valuable resource for the study of Port Washington’s changing landscape.
